Overview

Arterial hypertension, which affects a large percentage of adult population, is a major risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis in general. Timely and correct diagnosis of arterial hypertension is therefore extremely important. In view of a high rate of hypertension patients in the population, examinations are divided in 2 groups, i.e., those which must be done for all hypertension patients, and those which are indicated for some groups of hypertension patients only. The range of examinations to be performed for a hypertension patient depends on the person’s current health status: whether or not the patient suffers from uncomplicated hypertension and whether there has been recorded any degree of hypertension target organ damage.
